Maori Hei-tiki Large 20.5" Wall Plaque - Excellent and Exceptional
This plaque is in excellent condition and has no losses, scratches or other defects. It is carved from a single piece of wood, with inlayed abalone eyes. The the detail of the carving is the best I've seen in any hei-tiki. There is a deeply carved "R" on the back, perhaps for Rotorua, the center of Maori life in New Zealand. There is a recess drilled in the head to fit an angled nail.. it wo...rks well and it balances well. It measures approximately 20.5" x 12". You will not find a better one.
