With a solid mahogany cabinet, gold-plated hardware, a turntable that floated on a bed of bearings, and a nickel-plated 3-spring motor capable of playing multiple sides with a single winding, the Victor VI had no peers, and it was widely regarded as a visual and mechanical masterpiece. More than a century later, the Victor VI remains a cornerstone acquisition for any advanced collection of antique phonographs. Condition of this example is excellent, close to mint. In fact, it may be the nicest Victor VI that I've ever seen, and it's completely original. No re-plating, no replica parts, no repairs, no refinishing, no issues whatsoever. The original Victor "spear tip" horn is nearly flawless, with just enough surface crazing in the shellac to attest to the finish's authenticity, but not so much that it adds surface roughness or uneven gloss. Normal dings in the collar, but no damage or repairs to the wood, and a crisp, complete and beautiful original Nipper decal. The cabinet finish is original, and its patina is perfect -- deep maroon with no irregularities. Cabinet itself is outstanding, with tight glue joints everywhere. Beautiful original gold-plating on the hardware and corner columns, with spot tarnish but nothing unsightly excellent original turntable felt, with hardly any wear glossy original back-bracket enamel, and nearly perfect original gold back-bracket decorations. Paper license on the underside of the baseboard is original. The feet are original too. The data plate on the front of the cabinet is clean and legible, and the Lyre decal beneath it indicates the phonograph was almost certainly sold by Sherman, Clay Co. in San Francisco, the west coast's premier purveyor of Steinway pianos and high end Victor Talking Machines. The original gold-plated Victor Exhibition reproducer sounds great. Loud and clear, with excellent dynamics. If you've been patiently waiting for the nicest, all-original Victor VI you're ever likely to get your hands on, I think it's safe to say you may have just found it. Take a look at the pictures. They tell the story better than I can.I've been selling and shipping the world's nicest antique phonographs for more than 20 years. When you purchase an antique phonograph from me, you'll receive a phonograph that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a farm tool), and you'll receive a phonograph that includes thorough but easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions, so you won't be left scratching your head, trying to figure out how it works. Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how it works or how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for. When you've finished checking out my ebay listings this week, take a look at my TechnoGallerie website, where you can buy hard-to-find antique phonographs, antique radios, antique cameras and other gadgets you're not likely to see anywhere else. Among its features are a four-spring motor, a solid mahogany cabinet, a nickel-plated top works, a Lyric reproducer, and an extended mandrel large enough to accommodate both conventional 2-minute cylinders and Columbia's 6-inch "20th Century" cylinders. As you can see in the pictures, the phonograph is gorgeous, having been the beneficiary of what -- in the world of vintage Ferraris, Maseratis, Aston Martins and Lambourghinis -- would be considered a frame-off concours restoration...to its original condition. The topworks literally gleams. No pitting, no flaking, no corrosion, no issues. The extended-length mandrel is perfect -- no dings, no dents, no rotational eccentricity as it revolves. The carriage slides easily along the trunion rail, and the reproducer is not locked into the carriage head it can be easily removed by loosening the thumbscrew. The huge motor and gearing are likewise in excellent condition, and the governor is working properly. The solid mahogany cabinet is as stunning as the mechanism, with a grain pattern that's so pronounced it almost appears to be 3-dimensional. Not a trace of crazing or "alligatoring" anywhere. The matching Columbia "Spear Tip" horn (also original) is as extraordinary as the machine, with a smooth original finish and no damage, no repairs, no splits in the rim, so ridge along the seam where its joined, etc.The phonograph looks like new, it plays like new, and it needs nothing but a couple feet of real estate on your favorite cabinet or shelf.I'll include a 2-minute Columbia cylinder so that you can enjoy the phonograph as soon as it arrives. If you're not already familiar with how to operate an early cylinder phonograph, don't worry. I'll provide you with simple, easy to understand set-up instructions. Nickel-plated 3-spring motor and gearing (same one that was used in the Victor VI), and a bearing-cased sub-platter (also, same as the one used in the Victor VI). Governor is working properly, and the speed is steady. Plays multiple sides with a single winding.Oak cabinet retains its original finish, data plate is clean and legible. Scarce Lyon Healy tag is likewise clean and legible. Corner columns and capitols are original and undamaged. No missing molding, no damaged trim.Back-bracket enamel is original, as are the decorations. Blue highlights are still prominent, and the Japanned finish is still clean.Clean mechanism, clean turntable, with clean original felt. Nipper decal is an older replacement, essentially indistinguishable from the original decal. Happy summer, everyone. It's Friday, June 21st, and I'm writing this from a cottage near Stonehenge, where I'm waiting patiently for the solstice. Just kidding. Like all Triumphs, the "A" was a large, rugged, well-built machine with an enormous motor capable of playing multiple cylinders with a single winding. This example is in outstanding condition throughout, and it will arrive at your doorstep ready to play and enjoy.Original Japanned finish on the casting is still deep black and glossy, and the original gold pinstriping is still prominent -- almost perfect. The motor is strong, with ample torque, and the phonograph has no trouble making it through several cylinders with a single winding. The governor assembly is working properly, and the pitch doesn't waver as a cylinder plays through. All of the gearing beneath the bedplate is clean. The square hole, cast iron crank is original, and it's in great shape too. The oak cabinet is beautiful, close to mint. Cabinet finish is original throughout, and it's in excellent condition -- still smooth to the touch. The cabinet decal is original, and it too is in excellent condition, with vibrant colors and minimal wear. Excellent, heavy duty butt joints, with no swelling or damage. No damage to the base molding. A tiny veneer chip in lid, but otherwise almost like new everywhere. The original "C" reproducer is in excellent condition, with a good sapphire, a good diaphragm and good gaskets. It sounds great, too. The 14" witch's hat horn is an early original brass and black horn, and it's in excellent condition, with excellent original paint, no dents or other damage, and the original lacquer still intact on the brass bell. I'll include with the phonograph an excellent early Edison wax cylinder record in excellent condition, so the phonograph will be ready to play as soon as it arrives.Overall, an exceptionally nice, extremely collectible red banner Home cylinder phonograph that needs nothing to be enjoyed immediately.I've been selling and shipping antique phonographs, antique radios and antique scientific apparatus for more than 25 years. Introduced in 1903, the D was Victor's flagship phonograph. It was the biggest, best machine they made, and the most expensive. Equipped with a 12" turntable and a triple spring motor, it was housed in an ornate oak cabinet reminiscent of the Victor MS but considerably larger.Condition of this D is superb. The turntable felt has been replaced, but the phonograph is otherwise original throughout, including the cabinet finish, which has been hand-waxed, rubbed out, and then buffed to a satin sheen. Same for the original 22" diameter Victor Spear Tip horn, whose original "Nipper" decal is almost perfect. Back-bracket enamel is original and glossy, and the decorations on the back-bracket are original and still prominent. Small hardware is clean, and all of it is original. All of the nickel-plating is original, and all of the nickel-plated parts are clean. The horn collar is original and its nickel-plated exterior is blind-stamped with patent information. The horn elbow is original, with no cracks, no rust, nor any other damage. The 3-spring brass motor has plenty of torque and is able to play multiple sides with just a single winding. The machine is in good working order, with a great sounding Victor Exhibition reproducer.I'll include with the phonograph an early, acoustically recorded 78RPM record, and if you get tired of listening to it, there are plenty of other titles available on ebay and elsewhere. VINTAGE RCA VICTOR TRANSISTOR RADIO WORIGINAL LEATHER CASEMODEL: 3RH32This is a vintage gem The original leather case shows very little wear. Its handle, stitching and snaps are all secure. The clear plastic on the front of the radio (covering the station selection numbers) has some slight age yellowing and a few minor scratches. Both the OnOff Dial and the Station Selection Dial work. Please use pictures to help judge condition for yourself. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you if the radio actuall...y works because the last battery I had was removed many years ago . . . and I have come to learn that they no longer make "RCA VS 149 4V" batteries, which this radio requires. I tried to get one at a battery specialty store and they were unable to offer a solution. Perhaps you have a connection to get an "RCA VS 149 4V" battery In any case, this radio would still be a great nostalgic addition to someone's collection
