Super rare this is number 6 of only 20 printed. Harder to find than almost all other commercial releases this artist has ever done in his career. And the backstory makes it unique. Jim’s father was an oil man and Jim Pollock has a long history of prints commenting on gas and oil consumption, so this fits nicely into this category of his career. The car is chasing the gas pumping fuel man!
For a good part of his career from early 2000’s to 2013 Jim used and antique Washington pre...ss for all of his print work. That all changed when the fuel man showed up, and I quote:“This is the print that I broke the Washington Iron Hand-press on. While printing the first or second impression of the black plate, I heard this large crack and then a puff of iron dust and then a total loss of pressure on the plate. The Washington was done. I recently finished this one on the Vandercook”- Jim Pollock, 2013
So there you have it. The transition piece from one epic era of JP’s printing career to another. And only 20 of these exist to prove it. An awesome image of one of Jim’s famed subjects throughout his career.
