RARE Vintage HP Hewlett Packard Rappaport Sprague Stethoscope Doctors. Condition is "Used". Being sold as in and shown I the pictures. I took close ups to show you imperfections. Nice starter set for a medical collector.

Widely accepted as the gold standard of stethoscopes with the very best acoustics of any scope ever made. This stethoscope is ALL ORIGINAL and is in NEAR MINT condition. This scope has e...xcellent tubes, binaural spring, diaphragm and bell, housing, ear pieces and rubber tubing. These stethoscopes are of course no longer made and are getting scarce and are harder and harder to find, especially in this pristine condition. I've used mine since 1998!

The faintest heart sound becomes clearly discernible using the Rappaport Sprague Acoustic Stethoscope. The instrument represents more than a decade of research into principles and design factors governing acoustical performance. Specially designed chest and ear pieces, as well as tubing of optimal length and internal diameter, contribute to increased efficiency. A precisely machined valve mechanism prevents sound leakage and permits convenient interchange of the two chest pieces.
The H-P Rappaport Sprague Acoustic Stethoscope has extremely high acoustic efficiency and clearly transmits low- and high-pitched hear sounds which are often faint and inaudible with other instruments. The Rappaport Sprague stethoscope's design makes heart sounds and murmurs of the faintest level and both high and low pitches clearly audible, aiding accurate auscultation in cardiology, pediatrics and obstetrics. The specially designed (combined) chest and ear pieces, and twin tubing of optimal bore and length, were the result of ten years of research by the team of Dr. Howard Sprague, a Boston cardiologist, and Maurice Rappaport, an electrical engineer and acoustics expert from the Sanborn Company in Waltham, Massachusetts. Several papers and a book were written on the subject of this research.
