Quartz var. Chalcedony "Gem Silica"Ray Mine, Scott Mountain, Mineral Creek Mining District, Dripping Spring Mts, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA10.35cm x 7cm x 6.2cm450 grams
Description/Interesting Notes: A large and impressive example of "gem silica" with malachite and chalcopyrite from this classic Arizona locale!!! This specimen is MOSTLY comprised of highly translucent, intensely colored quartz var. chalcedony "gem silica"!!! Interes...tingly, there is a significant showing of chalcopyrite on the bottom edge as well!!! There is a vug filled with sparkly, tiny quartz crystals as well as a few acicular crystals of malachite tucked deep within!!! The gem silica is completely silicified and exhibits a somewhat unusual color that is decidedly more on the greenish end of blue-green!!! There are large areas of rich blue green and then areas that show a more greenish hue!!! Not only is this a unique and showy specimen, it is also a unique and valuable piece of gem rough as well!!! Unique, old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
