Reference Number: Avaluer:4283299 | Modified Item: No |
Extremely rare Ediacaran fauna from Nevada! From the very Lower Cambrian, near the Ediacaran boundary in Nevada. The plate features 2 discoid fossils resembling both cyclomedusa or aspidella as well as a faint frond-like fossil with segmentation. The larger discoid fossil measures 1.5cm wide and has evidence of perpendicular segmentation lines trave...rsing the circular rings. The discoid fossils are very 3D. A faint segmented frond-like fossil measuring 2cm is also present on the plate. This may be Swartpunita, a frond fossil, and has been described from this formation. Ediacaran fauna carried over in to the Lower Cambrian at many localities. The fossils are preserved on the weathered surface of a reddish Quartzite-sandstone matrix. Entire plate measures 6 x 5 x 2.5cm.
