Matchlessantiques is offering collectors and smiths this Nice 70 pound Vulcan Blacksmith Anvil. It was made by the Illinois Iron & Bolt Company, of Carpentersville, Illinois. This Cast Iron anvil is in used condition. The face is made from one solid piece of English tool steel and is perfectly flat, with some use marks on it. There are some nicks on the edges. The anvil has a "7" on the front foot meaning that the anvil is 70 lb. It has a good rebound. The body of the anvil is made... from the best Lake Superior Charcoal Iron. The horn is covered with untempered steel. This anvil would be a good one for the bench. Please take a close look at the pictures.

This anvil pattern is the second pattern made by Vulcan and is referred to the Modern Style and would have been produced in the twentieth century. The trademark was the second trademark Vulcan used and included the word "Brand" According to Richard Postman's book, Anvil in America, Illinois Iron & Bold Co. produced anvils from around 1875 until about 1969. This anvil has the second trademark used and would have been produced in the twentieth century.
The measurements are: overall length 18", face 3 1/4" x 11", horn 7", height 8 1/2", hardy hole 3/4", pritchel hole 7/16", actual weight 48 lb.
