We purchased this in the 70s from an anthropologist who had collected a lot of Native Australian art while in Australia and New Guinea. A favorite. Made of the very tough pandamus fiber, expertly and evenly woven. Bits of bird down woven into the basket at its top and into the string handles. Not often seen, and a great addition to any basket collection or collection of Australian Aborigninal art.
