Vintage Elgin AN 5740-1 Master Navigation Watch - 1944 - w/Original Box. Condition is "Pre-owned". Shipped with USPS First Class. The watch is in running condition. It seems to be keeping good time, but I have not tried to calibrate it. The watch comes with its original box, a two-piece affair (one part slides into the other). The back of the watch reads, "AN-5740, MFRS PART NO-1790, CONT NO W535-AG-37880, SER NO AF-43-6663." The entire watch is in outstan...ding condition. The crystal has no scratches and the body of the watch is virtually perfect. The box has a small amount of wear (mostly from being opened), as is visible in the photos. The box indicates the watch was manufactured on 16 September 1944, but the serial number on the watch might indicate manufacture in 1943. The serial numbers on the watch and box match up. This watch was owned by my father, who was a radar officer in the 8th Air Force during World War II. I have no relative to pass it along to, so want to make sure it gets into the hands of someone who appreciates it.
