This Victorian era antique Gros Point de Venise needlepoint guipure lace Bertha collar dress trim dates from the mid 19th century. It is hand made of an off white cream color firm, heavy needlepoint guipure lace with thick thread cordonnets outlining the scrolling flowers and covered... with buttonhole brides bars connecting the motifs. This lovely lace large shawl collar has a wide flat round Bertha collar style which would cover the low neckline of a dress to accentuate the shoulders, has a scalloped edging along the bottom, finished straight edge trim top and is sheer, unlined with no closures. The collar measures 41 inches long inside the neck, 97 inches long on the bottom outer edging and is 7 1/2 inches wide. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a rare and exquisite piece of handmade antique lace wearable art!
