A large scale display bowl from the workshop of Antonio Zen in Nove, Italy. A.Z. Nove stamped in black on the base dates this from 1960-1980. A dramatic classical oval bowl with scrolled acanthus handles. Creamy white glazed ceramic bowl with vertical ribs reminiscent of a pumpkin. 13 1/2" to tip of handles x 9” across the bowl, just over 5” tall. The large scale and neutral color lends itself nicely to spare or ornate decor, country or brutalist modern. Like most fine Italian cera...mics, this has a wonderful bell-like resonance when handled. It is handmade and does show signs of human inperfection, but is intact with no chips, cracks or crazing. If you can't be Italian, at least you can surround yourself with fine Italian object. They don't make them like this anymore and until they let us back into Italy, what are you going to do?
