The pattern depicts a classic Chinoiserie scene with oversized flowers, leaves and branches and a Butterfly hand painted in an Imari palette of Iron Red, Cobalt Blue, Light Blue, Orange, Yellow, Pink and Green with Gold Highlights and a Victorian scroll and floral border d...esign and a scalloped edge.
The platters are nearly identical in size: One measures 14 5/8 inches across and 12 inches wide; the other is ever so slightly smaller at 14 1/2 inches across and 11 7/8 inches wide.They Display Wonderfully together.Both are in Very Good condition, especially for their age. There are no chips or cracks in either piece. The decorations are vivid throughout. There are some utensil marks on the face of both as expected for its age, and much or the edge coloring (last photo) is faded as is some of the gold accents.The platters have a crown and ribbon Real Stone China mark used by Ashworth in the mid 1800s. One also has a hand written pattern number.
Pieces in this pattern are Very Rare and it is highly unusual to a pair such as this together.I am selling many other Staffordshire items and platters and will combine shipping whenever possible.Check out my other items!
