This is a restored and working verywell Philco model E-818 vacuum tube table top AM radio first introduced in 1956. This radio has six tubes instead ofthe usual five, two speakers and a tone switch in back to select between bassor treble. All this allow it to receivestations especially well with good clear warm tube sound and volume with no humusing just the loop antenna inside the case with no need for an external antenna. Also in back is a phonograph input jack ...toplug in an external appliance. The radiohas been tested and should continue to play loud and clear for many, many moreyears. The wooden case has been repainted satinreddish maroon with a dial that lights up when the radio is on. The case has nocracks, chips or odors and it looks remarkable for a 64 year old. The knobs match and the original hardboardback is still in great condition. A label on the bottom shows the correct locationof each tube. This restored radio would look nice and retro on a table or shelfand could be used as a daily AM radio. The inside chassis has beenthoroughly cleaned; the volume control de-oxidized for smooth volume changesand all moving controls lubricated. Ihave replaced all old electrolytic and paper capacitors in the chassis with newmodern capacitors and I have checked all resistors. Brittleor bare wiring has been replaced or re-insulated. The photosunderneath the chassis show the quality and neatness of my electricalwork. All 6 easily found tubes have beentested and questionable tubes have been replaced. The power cord with a molded plug is still in good pliablecondition. The two speakers are in greatcondition. The radio has been successfullybench tested for at least 12 hours over several days. The radio size is approximately 8”high by 17” wide by 7½” deep and weighs almost 9 pounds. Shipping weight should be about 11 pounds.I take pride in my shipping and theradio will be insured and carefully packaged to arrive safely. Note: If you are unsuccessful in winning this radioplease check back to see what other radios I have for sale. I list one restored old radio about everyweek.
