Matchlessantiques offers blacksmiths and collectors this Excellent 55 lb. COVEL Blacksmith / Sawmaker's Anvil. Here's a real nice anvil that would be a dream for any knifemaker or blacksmith. It's a perfect size for the bench for smaller work ! Covel Mfg. Co. of Benton Habor, MI. made sizes of Saw anvils around 90-100 lb. and 200 lb., but this is the first I've seen this small. Some Covel saw anvils are dated around 1924-1926 and in 1930 Covel was purchased by Hanchett Manufactur...ing and then the name on the anvils changed to Covel Hanchett Co., Big Rapids, Mich. So that means this anvil would date prior to 1930. There's a few nicks on the edges and some pitting along one edge, but overall in excellent condition. Please take a close look at the pictures.NOTE: This auction is for the 55 lb COVEL "SAW" Anvil ONLY. The last two pictures are for reference only and ARE NOT INCLUDED. The vise stand the anvil is displayed on and the tools displayed in the background are NOT INCLUDED in this auction.Measurements are: face 6 1/2" x 8 1/2", height 3 3/8", and actual weight 55 lb.
