Description: This unmarked pattern maker's plane is made of what I believe to be walnut and maple with brass castings and an aluminum sole. These normally have different soles and irons of different radiuses and this one, like most found, has the one set. This has an exquisite design, very shapely with an art nouveau look to it. The iron is marked "Wm. Jessop Sons" which was a steel supplier between 1774 and 1914. Condition: All original parts, No rust, no pitting, no cracks, chips or other dama...ge. Full length cutting iron is nice and sharp. Exactly as found- no cleaning has been done to this plane whatsoever. Please seethe photos for the whole story. For sale is this Emmert No. 82 Turtle Back Pattern Makers Vise with a 1891 Patent Date. It is in fair to good condition, and could be used as is. The jaws angle like they should, and the whole head rotates 360 degrees. In picture 11 there is a part that goes to it and it is broken, not sure what it really is for. Also, as you can see in picture 12 the mounting bracket has a crack. It was mounted to a bench when I purchased the vise, and seemed to be solidly mounted. So I don't believe the crack ...in the mounting bracket will have any effect on it. The actual size of the jaws are 6 78" by 18 38", and it opens to 14 14". This vise could use a good cleaning or maybe a complete restoration. It is a very heavy vise and will be shipped in a wooden crate. Please look at all 12 pictures. Please use the shipping calculator to determine shipping cost to your location. I usually have 3 choices of shipping options, but you must click on SEE DETAILS to the right of the shipping price on the listing in order to see the other 2. If you are the winner of more than 1 of my auctions or sale items, I will combine orders to reduce shipping cost. If shipping cost seem high please contact me with your zip code. Sometimes the eBay calculator is wrong. I accept PayPal. If you have any questions please feel free to email me, and thank you for looking. I allow returns of items up to 14 days from the time the buyer receives the item. I refund only the item price, no shipping to or from the buyer.
EMMERT No. TURTLE BACK PATTERN MAKER'S VISE -1891 PAT. DATE- WOODWORKING VISE. So here we go. This is yet another legendary Emmert Patternmakers vise. (Turtleback) I am not an expert on these but I can say that it is in very good condition, no rust to be found, no cracks to my knowledge and operates smoothly. I think its safe to say that it has been repainted and the handle has rubber knobs( handle may not be orginal). The guide bar on the left is a replacement I'm sure.. As you probably know th...e vise is super heavy (approximately 75lbs) and I would have to get you a shipping quote. Please contact me for final shipping cost It is a magnificent piece of engineering and I hope you get a lot of use out of it. Cheers
Wilton Vise Pattern Makers Rotating Double Jaw Vise, 7" 4". Part 161051 in raised characters is marked on bottom of rotating turret. I recently sold the same vise and thoroughly tested this unit. This vise has a unique wooden handle that Im unsure if it was an option of the original owner changed from the standard metal pipe. The wood handle has swelled a bit so it is somewhat tight not moving freely. The handle has a screw off wood cap so it can be replaced if desired. The small jaws are in go...od condition and show signs of limited use. The larger jaws did not have the wood inserts. The turret tightening bolt is a straight bolt instead of a bent rod with thread end. This vise is in good condition and the jaws are square to each other. Jaws actuate smoothly. Overall weight of nearly 35 lbs. The turret is also marked 13-93 FM on bottom. Please see pictures for complete detail of overall quality and product detail.
ONE LOT OF FIVE Stormont Pattern Makers Bent Shank English Paring Chisels. 1 12", 1", 34", 38", 14" that I purchased for my tool chest in 1969 and used in the trade for over 40 years.Bent shank paring chisels are used for delicate trimming and fitting. Controlled slicing, shaving, and fitting with quality tools was one of my joys in wood pattern making. If you've never used a paring chisel, you're missing one of the real pleasures of hand tool woodworking. The extra-long blade and handle allow y...ou to hold the tool against your body (if you wish) so you can use your weight and motion to achieve a controlled, two-handed cut not possible with regular chisels. Bent shank paring chisels feature a shank that is bent up and away from the blade holding the handle clear of the surface being trimmed so your knuckles don't interfere when doing flat work. These fine English chisels are fitted with ash handle that measure from 4 12" to 5 12" long with blade lengths of 10" to 11". Note that the side view of the 34" shows a check in the ash handle, but this has never caused any problems with performance.
