Millers Falls No 8 Smooth Plane Type 2 1936-41 Restored Tuned W/Hock Iron. Stanley no 3 size. Picked this one out of the Intensive Care Unit at your local “Lets make some more Antique Tools into Decor shop”. Someone had sprayed the entire thing with shellac. Destined to become a lamp or a door stop or maybe even screwed to the wall with some drywall screws and hung in Cracker Barrel. Completely restored, 100 % new japanning both red and black. No breaks cracks chips or repairs to t...he body or frog. The Cocobolo Rosewood tote and knob are free of cracks chips or repairs. Both have been re-lacquered and then hand polished to a silky smooth feel. Sole has been lapped and checked at the toe mouth and heel. The castings have been relieved for an overall smoother feel. The mouth is good no chips cracks or alterations. New Hock iron lapped flat and honed with a 10, 000 grit Ohishi Water Stone, Scary Sharp and makes wonderful whispy see through shavings in black cherry. The frog has been checked for rocking and sits firmly on the body. The frog adjustment tab has been re-blued just as would have been when in left the factory. The chip breaker and three piece lever cap have been lapped at their contact points with the iron to ensure a firm seat and reduce chatter. All screws move freely and have been lightly oiled. Millers Falls made wonderful planes and they are even better when you put a Ron Hock iron in them. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
