Stanley Made Wards Master No 60 1/2 Low Angle Adjustable Mouth Block Plane Tuned. Near mint condition, no breaks cracks chips or repairs to the body or the lever cap. 99% original black japanning on the body. 99% nickel plating on the lever cap. The brass eccentric front knob retains 90% of its nickel plating. These were made by Stanley in the 1930’s for Montgomery Ward and are every bit the equal of the Stanleys identical in every way. This one has been tuned, the sole has been lapp...ed the lever cap has been lapped at its contact point with the iron to ensure a firm seat and reduce chatter, (which is important if you are using it on end grain). Mouth is good no chips cracks or alteration and moves freely. The iron has been lapped flat on the back and then honed with a 10, 000 grit Ohishi Water Stone. Scary sharp and makes super thin see through shavings in black cherry with a finish as smooth as glass. No issues at all a wonderful block plane to have in the shop.
