This vintage Chinese qipao cheongsam jewel tone silk damask brocade banner dress dates from the 1940s. It is hand stitched made of a colorful jewel tone iridescent grayish silver silk damask weave fabric with a woven scenic floral garden, trees, pagoda temple shrine designs. Manchu women wore a one-...piece dress which were called "qipao" or "banner dress" and later became the traditional dress for Chinese women. This beautiful brocade Chinese cheongsam dress has a fitted below the knee length style with side slit vents, red and gray silk trim edging, pankou knotted button toggle trim closures along the front top, side with added zipper closure, a stiffened mandarin collar, long sleeves and is fully lined in a gray silk fabric with Chinese calligraphy characters label sewn inside the neck. The dress measures 48 inches long, with a 36 inch bust, 32 inch waist, 40 inch hips, 21 inch long sleeves and a 13 inch neck. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful quality custom made piece of Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
