Up for auction is an antique anvil marked HAY BUDDEN MANUFACTURING, Brooklyn NY 178. Also marked A2426. In good condition for its age. Also has unique early brass tag marked 374, I know that some of these anvils are rare and are coveted by people that actually use them. An old timer once told me to take a 3/4in diameter smooth ball bearing and drop it at waist level onto the anvil and if it bounces back to your hand with a beautiful ring sound, then it’s a well crafted anvil with goo...d casting structure, etc. This one had an excellent bounce and ring. Found it when I was living in upstate, NY. That’s the only information I have of where it came from. Measures 27 3/4in. long and 11 3/8in. tall, with a 10x11in. base.
