You are bidding on one Spiers Ayr wood infill rebate or shoulder plane as pictured.The wood at the front end is marked "SPIERS AYR" and with an owner name, and the wood at the rear is marked with the same owner name. The iron is marked "WARD CAST STEEL" with the WxP (Ward & Payne) logo. The iron is about .735" in width at the sharp end, with more bevel on one than the other. It is a snecked iron. Overall length of the body sole is about 9". ...The body along the lower edge is about .730" in width. The plane weighs 2 pounds 1.5 ounces on my postal scale. The last picture is with the iron set about flush to the sole, not out enough to take a cut.Condition is fair to good. The sides have some patina (color) and pitting, with the heaviest pitting in the left front corner. The bottom has mostly faint pitting, with some heavier pitting near the same left front corner. The wood infill has a variety of scratches and dings, with one check at the rear of the plane. The iron has some scattered and very light spots of pitting, and the wedge has a variety of scratches and dings and some chips in the finial. It appears to be the original wedge for the plane.

I use the US Post Office for everything, and I often find it is cheaper to use their Priority Mail flat rate boxes for heavier items. The US Post Office has five sizes of their Flat Rate boxes, plus padded Flat Rate envelopes. For each size the postage stays the same regardless of weight, with a 70 pound limit within the US and a 20 pound limit for international shipments. If the item is over $100, I have to buy extra insurance, and if the item is over $250, eBay encourages all sellers to require a signature upon delivery, which costs extra. The shipping charges are a combination of postage, extra insurance if applicable, and signature confirmation if applicable. SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is rapidly becoming a reality in more and more states. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for that state. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early. So I won’t do that for you, or to you.PURCHASING MULTIPLE ITEMS: Wherever it makes sense, I will combine your purchases to save on shipping. But you have to WAIT for me to put together your invoice, as the eBay computer cannot do that automatically.USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASE AS OF January. Every year the US Postal Service raises rates in mid to late January, and this year is no exception. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally, other than occasionally to Canada.
