NO RESERVE AuctionUp for sale is an original Rough Wear contract size 44 A-2 Flight jacket from WWII and most likely use post war as well. Contract W535AC23380 (as marked on the label tag) was a late 1941 contract. Jacket is in overall great shape for its age and is in 100% wearable condition or would display beautifully. The liner does have some small holes and tears (view photos) and there is some flaking on the leather. The cuffs and bottom hem have held up well over time and the or...iginal crown zipper is fully functional. Please view my detailed photosThe original name tag and most likely his stitched on wings above the tag were unfortunately removed from the breast. There is some faint writing on the liner which shows some possible initials / name and maybe a partial serial number but part of it is faded and hard to make out. Based on my observations in different light it appears to say “J.C Bryant” on the liner. You can view this in the photos directly below the labelThe back has a beautiful period painted A-26 invader. Douglas began to deliver the A-26B in late 1943 to the USAAF. It was also used during the Cold War and Korean War until it was phased out in the early 1970s. I have included a photo of an A-26 in the photos above. (This original photo not included)Based on the fact this jacket has the US Air Force painted on the shoulder and stamped inside I would also assumed it was also used post WWII (possibly Korean).
