A beautiful c1910 hand worked ARTS and CRAFTS large penannular brooch with so many lovely touches. It is set with a large, seemingly glowing cabochon of carnelian / agate, which has a touch of moss in it. Clearly by a quality maker, it sings Arts and Crafts, with everything being hand made. Hammer marks are visible to see in the work, for example in the little faux rivets set in the bottom sections, next to the large silver balls. They are hammered into three if you loo...k closely. Very reminiscent with the spirals of silver wire, to William Thomas Blackband but it has also been mooted to me that there is a very similar George Hunt piece. The brooch makes a beautiful statement and is in lovely condition, having a significant amount of patina, which you may wish to leave or else to polish away. Entirely up to you. The brooch measures approx. 7cm from the top of the pin to the bottom. A statement brooch which is beautifully detailed. Typically for Arts and Crafts pieces of this era, it is not marked. I am selling another brooch separately, which I believe is by the same maker, sharing a number of the same details. I will post by International signed for from here in Italy. The box is for display purposes only but a new gift box will be supplied. Thank you for looking.
