This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Soshu ju Tsunahiro saku 相州住綱廣作", shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period ca.1940 era made blade. Tsunahiro`s real name is Yamamura Tsuyoshi, was born in July, 1904 in Kamakura city, Kanagawa prefecture, made swords during WWll time and after the war as a Gendai smith. The blade is traditional hand ...forged, in old polish, shows fine scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji temper and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is heavy metal scabbard, no dent, no bend, no lacquer loss and in mint condition. The handle is tight fit with silver family mon on kabutogane, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. Tsuba, seppa, lock pin and fuchi are matched number 45 stamped. Lock mechanism works fine. It came with blue/brown lieutenant grade sword tassel, no cut, no fade and in mint condition. It measures 26+1/2" tip to the guard, 25+1/2" cutting edge, 1+1/4" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 39+1/4" in mountings.
