Very rare and original, ca1910’s Native American Northern Plains (likely Cheyenne) Indian Bead Decorated, Hide Moccasins.
This original Pair of early 20th century Cheyenne Moccasins each measure approx. 10 3/4" long at their stiff hide / parfleche soles. The vamps feature a simple, double lane design executed using cobalt blue, chalk white, medium blue and pumpkin colored, spot stitched glass seed beads. The Moccasins are sinew sewn and feature contiguous ...cuffs retaining their original rawhide ties. The soles are made of stiff hide and show evidence of good, honest use.
The Moccasins offered here are unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. They are NOT reproductions or modern recreations but original Cheyenne Moccasins crafted in the early years of the 20th century. This very rare and wonderful, Pair of ca1910’s Northern Plains / Cheyenne Indian Bead Decorated Hide Moccasins are in very good condition. The hide elements are generally well preserved but soiled with some separation between the uppers and the soles at the toe and with some damage from wear at the heel ends of the soles. These Moccasins were not manufactured for sale to the tourist trade but have seen significant use by their original, Cheyenne owner. The soles exhibit evidence of good, honest use. The beadwork is simple but attractive with some minor loss as can be seen in the scans below. All elements of the Moccasins are original and there has been no repairs or restorations.
