Ultra Rare Civil War Ohio State Seal Breastplate Perryville, Kentucky Buckle
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:204813 |
I am now selling my entire collection starting with the super-rare breastplate that Kerksis assigns a rarity of 9. This is a great dug authentic relic with acceptable ground ac...tion. The side profile shows the cupping of the plate caused by being in the ground, freezing and thawing, with the lead backing, and copper expanding and contracting at different rates - at least that is what the experts have told me. The wire loops are intact and the lead is strong. There are only a couple tiny hairline cracks along the edge of the copper plate and I have yet to see any excavated plate or buckle without them.
A prize relic for the serious collector. If it were a Confederate plate of the same rarity it would be a 5 figure price tag. The pictures speak for themselves. If you are a professional collector, then you know what you're looking at. Please look for future listings to include some rare buttons very soon. I have a pair of Republic of Texas Infantry buttons with rmdc backmark I will be listing soon. They were dug at Rowlett's Station in Hart County, Ky. (Terry's Texas Rangers - 1861 skirmish)
