Note: The 1955 Le Mans disaster occurred during the 24 Hours of Le Mans motor race at Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France on 11 June 1955. A major crash caused large fragments of debris to fly into the crowd, killing 83 spectators and French driver Pierre Bouillin (who raced under the name Pierre Levegh) and injuring nearly 180 more. It was the most catastrophic crash in motorsport history, and it prompted Mercedes-Benz to retire from motor racing until 198...9. This and the other slides I am selling are from this historic and disastrous race.
Selling an original 35mm Kodachrome slide taken at the 24 Hours of Le Mans sports car race in Le Mans, France on June 11-12, 1955. This slide shows several racing cars and has the words "#20 Mercedes Death Car, Start of Race" written on the slide border by the person who attended this event. This is a RARE slide because this car, #20, crashed, killing the driver, throwing debris into the crowd that killed 84 spectators, injured another 120 spectators in what is the deadliest accident in motor racing history. The Ebay Slide Watermark" is not on the original slide. There may be dust on the slide so clean it off before scanning. Free shipping in the USA. I do protect slides well in a rigid plastic sleeve. I do combine multiple purchases into one shipment.
