Very rare and very beautiful, ca1920's Native American Northern Plains / Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Tobacco Bag. This outstanding early 20th century Sioux Beaded Bag measures approx. 11 1/2" long overall (including the hide fringe) and 4 3/4" wide at the beaded panel.
This wonderful, Northern Plains Tobacco Bag is thread sewn by hand with spot stitched beadwork decoration featuring red, cobalt blue, orange, and turquoise seed beads. The entire Tobacco Bag i...s hide including the throat and the bottom edge features a hand cut, buckskin fringe. The bead decoration features traditional, Sioux geometric elements.

This very rare and very beautiful, ca1920's Sioux Indian Bead Decorated Tobacco Bag is in very good condition. All of the hide elements are well preserved and sound with some minor stiffness and some soiling and surface wear. The beadwork is well preserved with no loss, damage or repairs. The rawhide fringe at the bottom of the Bag is also well preserved. The bag retains its original rawhide drawstring at the throat. All elements of the Tobacco Bag are original and there has been no repairs or restorations.
