First Model Dahlgren "Bowie" Bayonet & Scabbard... spear point blade. Marked on the ricasso Ames Mfg Co, Chicopee Mass; on the reverse some proof marks and USN {anchor} DR and dated 1864. Brass backstrap and pommel marked on the top in an oval DR. Wood handle with four finger grooves.
