Up for Auction with NO RESERVE is a STUNNING LARGE c1870 VICTORIAN GOLD GILT EPNS GRIFFEN FIGURAL EPEGNE CENTERPIECE The Centerpiece comes from a grand estate who loved Gold and went to great expense to have many of their treasures Plated in 24k Solid Gold ! We sold a number of pieces from this estate and this week we have the last of them. This is a stunning Victorian English Silver Plate Epergne that they had Gold Plated about 30 years ago. The Eperge Stand is top notch quality with amazing Figural Gryphon and other fine Victorian designs throguhout. The Trumpet is an elegant clear glass and the Bowl has superb etched designs. The base has a maker's mark as seen, I believe it is for Martin, Hall & Co (1854-1897).
Condition : The Stand itself is in excellent condition with no real problems, one nut on underside has been replaced, other than that very clean throughout. Not sure if the Glass pieces are original but they display very nicely with the Bowl portion having one small chip to the base, but other than that no damage or repairs.
Measurements : The Epergne makes for an incredible display, especially filled with fruits and flowers, measuring 21 inches tall by 9 inches wide overall. The Stand itself measures 11-1/2 inches tall to where the Plate sits and 8 inches wide across the base.
