This "Focal Plane Shutter" for a 1/2 plate camera was manufactured by "Thornton Pickard".The "Thornton-Pickard" company was founded by John Edward Thornton and Edgar Pickard in Manchester, in 1888 and was based Altrincham near Manchester U.K. and was an early pioneer in the development of the camera industry including the innovative "Time & Instantaneous" shutter designed and patented by Thornton in 1892.The side of the shutter has a applied ivorine plaque with "Thornton Pickard Paten...t Focal Plane", the lettering is legible with a good colour.There are no holes to the blinds that I can find.There are no major splits or cracks to the mahogany that I can find, however, the scuffs and marks that you associate with used camera equipment.The wood has taken on a lovely depth of colour and patina.All of the brass work appears to be present and it has retained much of its' original lacquer coating.The mechanism appears to be working when the lever is moved on the sode, however, the cable relaease doesn't allow release. This "Focal Plane Shutter" for a 1/2 plate camera was manufactured by "Thornton Pickard".
