A fine and very rare c1875 Chinese export silver from the
well regarded Hing Kong maker Wing Chun.
The teapot in gently curved corner squared form, a rare
shape in 19th century Chinese export silver.
The side panels with hand carved Chinese figural scenes.
One with elder in long robe and walking stick, waving
farewell to traveler and attendant.
Un...usual scene.
Far more unusual the opposite side panel shows two men
seated at table in tea garden, one with
courtesan on his lap, as attendant watches to the side.
Prunus branch, elaborate railing and planter on stand
complete the scene.
The forward panel with exotic bird in bamboo grove,
the last panel with flowering prunus tree.
The scenes with classic, satin like stippled background.
The teapot retains the original bent prunus branch finial and
life like curved branch handle.
Period engraved "May 20 1899" opposite side script LFR (?) for the original owner.
In very fine condition.Rich silver patina, retains much original detail.Cover closes firm.Handle secure, retains original stops, buyers must obey law on purchase item with bit of endangered material.
