Description A beautiful rare English antique 18th Century Georgian solid sterling silver "PORT" bottle/decanter label by the famous silversmith HESTER BATEMAN - (176...1 - 1790), in excellent clean condition, with English silver hallmarks and dating from around 1785. Superb quality genuine 230+ year old sterling silver example, (definitely not silver-plate); curved in shape with attractive bevelled corners and has a engraved/stamped "Port" motif in the centre. It hangs from its undamaged silver link chain and there are no added personal engraved crests or monograms. A nice scarce label.Measurements Measures approx. 1.7 inches (43mm) x 0.7 inches (17mm), (excluding the silver chain). Date English antique 18th Century Georgian solid sterling silver, hallmarked with an early lion passant/gardent silver stamp and also the silver duty stamp of King George the Third. Maker Clear struck silversmiths initials, "H B" (HESTER BATEMAN - (1761 - 1790). Condition Excellent clean condition, with no splits or repairs, definitely no wear holes in the lettering and no knocks or dents, a beautiful genuine undamaged example by one of the best makers.
