This vintage Chinese qipao cheongsam black and gold silk brocade birds banner dress dates from the 1940s. It is made of a black silk background with a gold damask weave floral vine leaf and flying birds woven pattern brocade fabric. Manchu women wore a one-piece dress which were called "qi...pao" or "banner dress" and later became the traditional dress for Chinese women. This beautiful brocade Chinese cheongsam dress has a form fitting style, is a long below the knee length, with a mandarin collar, long sleeves, side slit skirt vents, with snaps, black gold decorative spiral scrolling trim toggles, zipper closures along the side and is fully lined in a purple silk fabric with broad shoulder padding sewn inside. The dress measures 44 inches long, with a 40 inch bust, 34 inch waist, 40 inch hips, 19 inch long sleeves and a 14 inch neck. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful quality custom made piece of Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
