A fine and rare c1860 George B. Sharp sterling silver coffee pot in theChinese manner.
First listed 1848 in Philadelphia.Managed Bailey & Co.'s silver operations in 1862 when Taylor and Lawrie left.Examples in major museum collections, including the Philadelphia Museum and Boston Musems of Art, and the Winterthurer.
Baluster form with hand raised Chinese of Chinese life, f...igure in long robe walks acrosscobblestone foot bridge and pagoda, amidst lush foliage.Opposite side with western scenes, farmhouse across from farmer with strw hat seated on grassy knoll.Cover retains the original seated Chinese man finial.Branch form spout and handle with leaf wrapped fruited vine.We had our silversmith replace with stops with composite to allow saleworld wide.
