Extremely RARE Philippe Starck "Dole Melipone" 1st Edition Dining table .
Here is an extremely rare to find Philippe Starck 1st Edition "DoleMelipone" dining table base and foldable.Edited by XO in 1981 in France and one of Starck's best creation.Made of plated steel, the base can be folded. Originally sold with a glassor crystal top, they are usually in terrible condition and making anyshipment hazardous.Purchased when released, this is for the base only. Only used as display asan ...office table, and I made a bespoke top which didn't cost much at all. Iwould recommend a glass one as allowing anyone to contemplate the fabulousstructure of the table base. A piece of Art.
The table is in very good condition and has some minor wears of time I havedisplayed in the pictures and definitely not so noticeable. Overall, thebest condition i have seen in other ones sold at auction houses.
In 2008 XO released a "Mini XO" of this table, a miniature one.Interestingly, the name "Dole Melipone" comes from one of the hero inPhilip K.Dick's book UBIK.
