Up for auction today we have a gorgeous and rare PELIKAN M800 (old style) Golden Dynasty Asia Limited Edition 888 Fountain Pen #067/888Year 1995 (First of the Pelikan Asia series 888).
The Golden Dynasty was one of Pelikan's first limited edition pens. Released in late 1995 in an edition of 888 pieces worldwide. This rare pen pays tribute to the dragon, one of the most complex and manifold symbols in Chinese mythology, surrounded by a wealth of legend and folklore. The drag...on is one of the five symbolic animal figures of Chinese mythology. It represents and the easterly winds. With the Golden Dynasty fountain pen Pelikan presents an exclusive writing instrument of matchless charm. Pelikan’s master craftsmen adorn each barrel by hand with an intricate design of high artistry, incides into a sleeve of solid 925 sterling silver overlaid with 24-carat gold (no less than 200 manufacturing steps are required in the creation of each Golden Dynasy pen). The Golden Dynasty barrel shows two dragons playing with a ball in the heavens, which, according to myth, would cause rain to fall. The dragons then disappear behind the rain clouds where they are hidden.
The pen is fitted with the original Medium (M) PF Imprint nib with a corresponding "18C M" sticker on the piston knob.
This pen is in near mint condition and has never been used. It was part of a group amassed by a Chinese diplomat during the 90's and will be the centerpiece of any collection. thank you for looking and good luck!
