From an Estate Sale of 1940's - 1980's CRYSTAL & CHINA, we offer from the "HB POTTERY in Quimper, France, a WONDERFUL GROUP of TWO TIN GLAZED ART FAIENCE BAKEWARE(OVEN PROOF) items with the MOST ATTRACTIVE HANDPAINTED "MISTRAL BLUE ROUND" pattern(made from 1984-1990's) on white background of BRETON... MAN, GREEN TREE, BUSHES & LEAVES and another setting of MULTI-COLORED FLOWERS/LEAVES. GRAYISH BLUE TRIM AND DAUBING. THESE OVEN BAKEWARE ITEMS ARE HEAVY(TOGETHER WEIGH 7 1/2 lbs). Items have the "HB Quimper France" hallmark, "Entierment Decor Main"(= COMPLETELY HANDPAINTED) and "Les Plats Du Chef(= THE CHEF'S DISHES). Group consists of:****#1 - 8" diameter by 5 1/4" high 1 1/2 QT CASSEROLE with LID - two tab handles on bowl and top handle on lid. PHOTOS# 2-7.****#2 - 9 1/4" diameter by 3" high HANDLED PIE or QUICHE BAKER - two tab handles. PHOTOS# 8-12.CONDITION: this 19-34 YEAR OLD group is in EXCELLENT CONDITION without any cracks, chips, nicks or stains - appear to have been never used - can't see any scratches/scuffs. HOWEVER, BOTH HAVE AGE RELATED OVERALL CLEAR CRAZING(PHOTO# 7 FOR CASSEROLE & PHOTO# 12 FOR PIE) - THEY ARE COMPLETELY USABLE & DISPLAYABLE.A WORD ON THE CLEAR CRAZING: we have 26 pieces of Quimper listed on Ebay - this was a collection purchased at an Estate Sale - of the 26 pieces, all but the three ovenproof pieces in this auction are without any crazing whatsoever. Further, all sales that we found of these three ovenproof pieces also have the crazing found on our pieces. MAKES ONE WONDER WHETHER THE FIRING/GLAZING TECHNIQUE USED BY THE FACTORY TO OVENPROOF THE ITEMS MADE THEM MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO CRAZING?(NOTE THAT OUR 3 ITEMS SHOW NO SIGNS THAT THEY WERE EVER PLACED IN THE OVEN). PROVENANCE: hallmarks identify the pieces as HB QUIMPER circa 1984-1990's and the pattern is pictured on the Websites of the China Replacements Services as Quimper in the "MISTRAL BLUE ROUND" pattern.PRICING GUIDELINES: In checking Ebay's 3 month and Worthpoint's 15 year histories for HB QUIMPER'S Mistral Blue "Man" items we found that most sales of the casserole had one or more chips on the handles, rim of lid, and/or top rim of bottom - however, two of the casseroles and two of the pie bakers did sell in the same undamaged condition BUT WITH CRAZING as our with our items: for the 1 1/2 QT casserole - one sale more than 6 years ago at $74 & the other more than 11 years ago at $90; and, for the pie baker - one sale more than 7 years ago at $25 & the other more than 4 years ago at $11.
