Up for auction is a 12" long tin friction powered 1951 Cadillac Series 62 four door sedan made by Marusan Kosuge in early '50s Japan. This highly desirable tinplate toy car is clean as new and in near mint condition with all parts intact. It is 100% original. As an added bonus the original factory box is included. There is a strong friction motor as well. The car came from a toy collector who has owned it for 40 years. It originally came out of a long closed toy store. The toy has neve...r been played with and has spent the last 40 years safely enclosed in a glass display case. There are no dents or dings and the light blue finish still has a beautiful wet look high luster with no paint loss. The red tail lights on these cars almost always show wear but on this stunning beauty they are both like new perfect and the red color is extremely vibrant. All the trim is bright but there is some typical age oxidation to be seen in places. The plastic windows are crystal clear with no scratches, breaks or shrinkage and still held firmly in place with all tabs intact. The interior is highly detailed with separate tabbed steering wheel and the lithograph shows realistic foot rests on the floor of the rear seat. The body color chassis is in mint condition having no wear at all. All the connecting tabs are tightly intact. The wonderful spiral friction motor runs like new; long, strong and smooth. The tin whitewalls and hubcaps are all pristine. The rubber tires have no cracks or wear at all but there are three small flat spots on the left rear drive wheel. This and the minor tarnish to trim are all that keep the car from being mint. The factory box has beautiful bright graphics on the lid and underneath the lid are the operating instructions still in perfect shape. The box is clean with no stains, fading or offending odors but it does show moderate storage wear with a puncture on one box bottom end, some wear to the inside and age splits on three lid corners. The word CADILLAC is hand written on one lid end. I thought about repairing the lid with correct cardboard color paper back tape but decided it would be best to leave this treasure as it is, representing a rarely found original piece of toy history from the golden age of tin. This really is an exceptional piece not to be missed. A magnificent large size tinplate car in near mint condition with it's original factory box offered here in true auction style with a low, low starting bid and no reserve.
