Exceptionally rare and fantastic, ca1890 Large Size Veterinary Medicine Advertising Display Cabinet with a beautiful, Chromolithograph Embossed Tin Advertising Sign manufactured by the Tuscarora Advertising Co. of Coshocton, Ohio. This fantastic Country Story Display Cabinet originally held 14 different Dr. Daniels Veterinary Medicines many of which are illustrated on the Tin Litho cabinet door beneath a portrait of Dr. Daniels himself!!
This outstanding, woo...d case Dr. Daniels Advertising Country Store Display Cabinet measures approx. 27" tall and is 20 1/2" by 7 1/4" at the base. The wonderful, Tin Lithograph insert panel measures approx. 14" by 19 1/2". As an American Advertising Sign, this insert panel is outstanding in its own right. If this were a framed advertising sign it would be a multi thousand dollar item!!!
The Tin Lithograph insert features a bust portrait of Dr. A. C. Daniels surrounded by embossed text that reads "Dr. Daniels' Veterinary Medicines / Warranted". Below the portrait is a wonderful display of 11 different, embossed Product Packages / Boxes / Tins of Dr. Daniels' Veterinary Medicines all featuring the same bust portrait of A. C. Daniels. At the bottom of the Tin Litho insert there is a list of 14 different Veterinary Medicines along with their prices per package.
The interior of the Cabinet is fitted with three original shelves where the various types of Veterinary Medicines would have been stored. The interior was accessed from the front as the front "door" of the Cabinet is hinged and the back of the Cabinet is solid. The Cabinet was meant to be hung on a wall of a Country Store or Feed Store and customers could help themselves to the Medicines inside. There is text on the inside of the cabinet printed on the backboard that reads "This Case is the Property of Dr. A. C. Daniels, Boston and is loaned to you for Daniels' Medicine only.
This very rare and wonderful, Dr. Daniels' Veterinary Medicine Advertising Cabinet is in very good condition. The wood surfaces appear to have been refinished some time in the past and the surfaces are very attractive. The Tin Litho Advertising panel is original and in very good condition. There is no areas of loss to the lithography and the colors are rich and warm. While there are scattered, tiny blemishes and some light and very minor areas of light surface oxidation there is no serious damage to the surface - no scuffing, no loss, no significant scratches, no dings, no flaking and no crazing. The surface is stable and very attractive overall. The door to the Cabinet retains its original Handle, escutcheon and lock mechanism, we do not have a key to the lock. The door does stick somewhat. The interior of the Cabinet and the back side of the front door have been repainted sometime in the past. Overall this wonderful Dr. Daniels’ Veterinary Medicine Advertising Cabinet is exceptionally attractive and displays beautifully.
