This auction is for a 16MM film containing a complete half hour episode of the long-running classic TV show “Lassie”. The show ran from 1954 to 1974 and was the ongoing saga of the Martin family and their beloved collie, Lassie. This episode, which aired on October 25, 1970, is entitled “The Offering”. Here is the plot summary, according to IMDB:
“Lassie and her pups meet Davey Braddock, a boy so grief-stricken by the recent death of his dog, that he doesn’t want a...nything to do with any other dog. Lassie and her pups have their work cut out for them.”
This print has all the original commercials, including those for Tegrin lotion for psoriasis, Hershey’s chocolate bars, Milky Way candy bars, Campbell’s Homestyle Pork & Beans, Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup, and Recipe dog food (“The balanced dinner Lassie eats. Every day.”)
The color picture has mostly faded (see actual screen shots), but the clarity is very good. There are a couple of light vertical lines that come and go. The sound is strong, the film runs smoothly and there is no vinegar smell. The film has complete beginning titles and end credits.
