This is a Rare Red Clay Catalina Pottery blue ribbed vase. As you can see from the photos it has some issues. In the past someone has tried to repair chips to it and covered it with blue paint, I noticed this after I washed it You can see the chips I have found and the repair work, there may be more but I'm not sure. This vase measures 8 12 inches tall and 5 inches at the widest. Due to the repairs I'm starting the bidding low and there are no returns on this item. Sorry, no international shippi...ng on this item.

The family later moved north in Ontario, until they settled in Schumacher, Ontario, when Ruth was about 13 years of age. At age 17 she married a British immigrant named William Pither. About 1938 Ruth, and Bill, and their 5 children, moved south until they settled at a farm near Orillia, Ontario, where we believe she started her work in a remodeled "hen pen", that gave her studio its name. There is a website under her name, Ruth Pither160that is well worth a visit if you are interested in the work of this important Canadian artist. She worked with clay, painted, and even did some weaving. The work offered here is clearly hand signed by herself on the underside: PITHER HEN PEN Canada
