This beautiful tankard is in excellent period condition with a matching pewter lid which has faint inscribed initials on the top (see photograph #7). There are also three ...touch marks’ on the underside of the lid (see photos 11 and 12). The cylindrical body is nicely decorated with the bell-shaped heads of summer flowers attached by thin, tendril-like stems. Above and below these are stylized bunches of grapes, maybe suggesting that the tankard was used mostly for drinking wine rather than beer. The tankard is 8 1/8 inches tall to the top of the pewter thumb-lift. The base diameter is 3 3/4 inches. The condition is EXCELLENT! There are no chips, no cracks, and no restoration! A great addition to your private collection or dealer inventory. Thank you for bidding and good luck!
