Antique cream piano shawl, which has been wonderfully and profusely embroidered in pastel coloured silk thread with floral design to one corner, which features cabbage roses. The shawl has a matching cream deep knotted fringe, and would have originated form the Canton region of China for export to the West. AGEThe shawl would date to the beginning of the 20th century, circa 1900 to 1920. SIZEThe shawl measures 46" by 46" square excluding the fringe, with the fringe being 19" long, with 4½" be...ing knotted. CONDITIONThe shawl is in a good condition for age, although there are several tiny holes to the fabric, and a small burn hole mark to one side. There are numerous faint marks and stains to the fabric, plus some loose threads to the embroidery in places. Please refer to the above photographs for details of condition.
