Original Description:
I'm selling two original 1939 Series Postal Savings System $500 Certificates issued in the Detroit Redford Station and their reissue certificates.  These were recently found while cleaning out my grandmothers estate.  It doesn't appear that she ever cashed them in but she did have a reissue of them in 1962.  The Treasury Department advises that they are no longer eligible for redemption.  They are a neat piece of history and would be a nice piece to add to your coll...ection.
